Good Morning,, and welcome. For those of you who are using McAfee Site advisor, you may wonder why Two Brothers Software is being flagged by Site Advisor when we proclaim that our software is free from spyware or viruses? Unfortunately McAfee Site advisor is only a tool and has flaws just as any other tool may. Please read further to find out all the facts about our site, and McAfee’s Site Advisor.

When we tested this site we found links to softpile.com, which we found to be a distributor of downloads some people consider adware, spyware or other potentially unwanted programs. 18 green downloads In our tests, we found downloads on this site were free of adware, spyware, and other potentially unwanted programs. Source http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/twobrotherssoftware.com

So what does this mean? Softpile is a company that distributes software and shareware. This company has found our software information in a PAD Repository. Any company can use the PAD repository to get information about shareware and put the information in their own web pages. This is a very common practice. Unfortunately the PAD Repository is not infallible. Some companies just try and create pages to increase their page views, and web stats. Several companies do this, including softpile and OTHER COMPANIES that McAfee states are good.

McAfee Site Advisor is a tool, but you have to use this tool correctly. Even McAfee states that Two Brothers Software downloads are good and free of spyware. Just as McAfee lists us red, it will list software sites that are bad as green. You need to be careful when using any shareware software site. Just as when you are hammering a nail, if you use the tool wrong, you risk hurting yourself. If you use McAfee wrong, you may end up using a stapler to pound a nail in. You might get the nail in, but it won’t be what is best! We urge you to use this, like any tool responsibly!

Two Brothers Software has a stance that McAfee Site Advisor’s review of twobrotherssoftware.com and associated sites is incorrect and invalid. The information that they have posted on their site is incorrect and partially irrelevant to a safe internet experience. There is no established evidence that a site that has a link to another site incorporates the belief system or practices of the linked site. Two Brothers Software furthermore believes that each individual company takes responsibility for what software they publish and companies that may intentionally or unintentionally are linked to these sites are not responsible for the contents of other author’s works. Two Brothers Software furthermore believes that secondary links (links to download from links to sites) have absolutely no relevance to what the primary sites standards of practices are. We believe that McAfee should seriously consider their system for determining a site safe or not based specifically on what is downloaded, on each specific site.

Facebook Agrees To User Safety Plan
by Soulskill
9 May 2008 at 5:18am
Facebook has reached an agreement with the attorneys general of 49 states and the District of Columbia to develop and enhance controls to protect minors from inappropriate content. This follows a similar commitment from MySpace several months ago. The lone holdout in each case was Texas. News.com notes: "In the deal, the social network has agreed to develop age verification technology, send warning messages when an under-18 user may be giving personal information to an unknown adult, restrict the ability for people to change their ages on the site, and keep abreast of inappropriate content and harassment on the site. While the agreement is with U.S. state authorities, Kelly said that the tools deployed will apply to Facebook's international users as well. More than half of the site's 70 million users are outside the U.S."

NASA Planning Mission To 40-Meter-Wide Asteroid
by Soulskill
9 May 2008 at 2:15am
FudRucker points out a story from The Guardian about NASA's plans to visit 2000SG344, an asteroid 40 meters wide and weighing roughly 71 million kilograms. The manned mission would take three to six months, and it would make use of the Orion spacecraft, which will be replacing to retiring space shuttle fleet. "A report seen by the Guardian notes that by sending astronauts on a three-month journey to the hurtling asteroid, scientists believe they would learn more about the psychological effects of long-term missions and the risks of working in deep space, and it would allow astronauts to test kits to convert subsurface ice into drinking water, breathable oxygen and even hydrogen to top up rocket fuel. All of which would be invaluable before embarking on a two-year expedition to Mars. As well as giving space officials a taste of more complex missions, samples taken from the rock could help scientists understand more about the birth of the solar system and how best to defend against asteroids that veer into Earth's path."
